Could a Cannabis Compound Protect You From COVID? – Cyph City Central Skip to content

Possibly, but don’t light up just yet.

In a lab study, researchers at Oregon State University found that two compounds in hemp, cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), could combat COVID by binding to the virus’ spike proteins and preventing them from infecting human cells.

Although the findings are certainly intriguing, much more research is necessary since the study was only conducted in lab cultures. It did not involve humans receiving supplements nor did it include a comparison of individuals who use the compounds to those who do not.

So, your best bet right now to avoid COVID is an N95 mask and full vaccination.  But the promising study is certainly raising some eyebrows – and hopes.
